Jeff Reardon was a fearsome pitcher with the Twins but sadly late in his Red Sox career it became "Oh $%#@! Here comes Reardon" out of the bullpen.

1979 Winston Cigarettes Ad

This is from a Red Sox game program from 1979. "I want the best taste I can get, I get it from Winston."

I tell you what, I used to be a smoker and would have been totally on board with the concept of "taste" and cigarettes, but I very much remember cheating and sneaking cigarettes when I was trying to quit and they actually taste terrible, like cotton pulling the moisture from your mouth. It was peer pressure that made them enjoyable in the beginning, and then the nicotine that told me they were enjoyable and had some sort of "taste" that I should like.

Love the Mad Men episodes where they have to confront marketing these things- "It's toasted!"

JJ Nissen 1989 Bobby Bonilla baseball card

I loved Bobby Bonilla, I thought he was going to be as big a deal as his Pirates teammate Barry Bonds. The best thing about his career is that I believe the Mets are STILL paying his contract. JJ Nissen is a bread- baking company, they did several  runs of cards that came in the package with bread. I always noticed that they always airbrushed the team logo off the hat, as they paid the players association, not MLB.

1977 Red Sox Yearbook Tom House and Tom Murphy

I was an ardent Red Sox fan as a kid (and still am) but there was so little stuff to "study" in the offseason- now with the internet you can study stats and pictures and video all year but back then there was so little out there, the yearbooks became a big deal to us kids in the sticks. Here's a page from 1977. I always liked Tom House, and he's gone on to become the super guru of pitchers and throwing in general. I remember he used to throw a football around instead of a baseball!

Blue Moon Belgian White is a descendant of Celis White and is a lot of people's favorite beer. Blue Moon Belgian White. It's made by Miller Coors, but says "Blue Moon Brewing Company" on this label from the 1990s.

This is, I believe, the beer that Budweiser is modeled on. Crystal from Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic. Budejovice is also known as Budweis or Böhmisch Budweis.
