1984 Donruss Duke Snider Puzzle Piece

I have no idea if Donruss is still a thing, but in the 1980s they were trying to establish themselves as one of the big baseball card companies.

They had a set of cards within their set of cards called "Diamond Kings," which can be pretty interesting to look at when you look at it from a historical perspective because they picked the players that were popular or whose stock was rising. Some of their Diamond Kings were truly great players and some were flashes in the baseball pan.

Another thing they did was issue a jigsaw puzzle that, when all the pieces were collected and assembled, would be a portrait of some all-time great player. This is a card from that puzzle set. 1984 was Duke Snider, legendary Brooklyn Dodger, The Duke of Flatbush.

  1. My gosh. Such memories. How well I remember Duke Snider. I was introduced to MLB by my grandfather. Every weekend we'd try to watch him play.

  2. That puzzle bit is quite interesting. A completed puzzle would be worth some big buckos today.
