Superstition Grand Hotel Apache Junction, Arizona

This is one of the favorite matchbooks I've found in the collection so far, The Superstition Grand Hotel in Apache Junction, Arizona.

I like it so much I'm using the artwork for my avatar and the fav icon for this website! Old classic advertising art like this are exactly what drew me to want to make a website and try to preserve these old things.

  1. I stopped in Arizona last November for a couple of days on my way to a conference in California. I took a day and drove out to Apache Junction and north from there into the mountains for a couple of hours. It was spectacular. I faxed the closing paperwork on the sale of my late parent's home from an office supply shop in Apache Junction late that day.

  2. "Superstition Hotel" -- was it full of black cats, ladders to walk under, open umbrellas and broken mirrors?

  3. Is that near the Superstition Mountains? I think that's where the Lost Dutchman Goldmine is supposed to be located. Neat!

  4. Now I'm sorry I gave away my mother's tin of matchbooks but I couldn't ship them to Spain. I do have a book of matches from my bar mitzvah. 1967! My grandparents-in-law had a place on Apache Trail in Apache Junction!
