Since you seem to like all this history, have you been to Washington's Crossing in Bucks County yet? Makes for a good interesting day trip with the river history and surrounding buildings, and not far by minutes is Bowman Hill Tower...with breathtaking views.
I went there on a school trip many many years ago.
